A landmark of downtown Edmond, Around the Corner Restaurant will celebrate its 75th anniversary on September 1, 2026, marking three-quarters of a century of memories, community spirit, and hometown hospitality. Since opening its doors in 1951 as the Corner Restaurant, this local institution has grown alongside Downtown Edmond, becoming a beloved gathering place where neighbors connect, generations share stories, and friendships are formed over good food and a cup of coffee.
A cornerstone of Edmond’s historic downtown, Around the Corner has long reflected the character and spirit of the community. The restaurant began, quite literally, on the corner, where it quickly earned a reputation for warm hospitality and homemade meals. As Downtown Edmond grew and changed, the restaurant did as well, eventually moving to its current location and adopting the now-familiar name, Around the Corner. Over the years, that name has become synonymous with local tradition, familiar faces, and Edmond pride.
Through every era, Around the Corner has remained one of the city’s unofficial meeting places. Morning coffee comes with lively conversation, local news, and the occasional friendly debate. It is a place where business deals have been discussed, generations of Edmond families have celebrated milestones, and newcomers have quickly felt at home. In a world where restaurants often come and go, Around the Corner has remained a constant presence in Downtown Edmond, supporting the district’s growth, activities, and community events while continuing to welcome residents and visitors alike.
The Weiss family, who purchased the restaurant in 2012, has continued that legacy of hospitality and tradition.
“Restaurants come and go, but Around the Corner has always been about people,” says Bob Weiss. “We’re honored to be the caretakers of this incredible Edmond tradition and grateful to every customer, employee, and community member who has made these past 75 years possible. This restaurant belongs to Downtown Edmond’s story, and we’re proud to help write its next chapter.”
Throughout September, Around the Corner will commemorate its milestone anniversary with menu specials, commemorative T-shirts and coffee mugs, along with special events honoring the guests, families, and employees who have helped shape its history. The month-long celebration will pay tribute to the countless memories created over shared meals and to the community spirit that continues to bring people together in Downtown Edmond.
As Edmond has grown from a small town into a thriving city, Around the Corner has remained a cherished constant. It is a place where grandparents introduce grandchildren to a favorite booth, friendships begin over coffee, familiar faces greet one another by name, and the community gathers one meal at a time.
After 75 years, Around the Corner is still doing what it has always done best: serving good food, bringing people together, and creating memories for generations to come.
